Emery's First...

Emery decided it was not too late to fit in a few firsts into 2013.  This month, she had quite a few big milestones:

  • She got her first two teeth the week before Christmas, (so I guess the song is true). The bottom right one poked through first last week, and the bottom left is just breaking through now.
  • She began to eat her first finger foods, Cheerios, bananas, peas, rice cakes, and even a sugar cookie at cousin Nora's Christmas dinner!
  • She started to wave. She did it first to Nana when we got to their house, and then again at dinner to a woman at the table next to us at the restaurant. We have had lots of fun waving to her and watching her wave back!
  • She's starting saying "dada". Of course, it's not directed at Don yet. She just likes making the sound and it is the first step towards talking. I'm sure she will become the Daddy's girl her sister is and it will be several months before I hear a "mama".
  • She is finally starting to commando crawl. For a long time now she's gotten around by rolling, but this week she started using her arms to support her weight and try to make a forward crawl. It won't be long and she will be fully mobile.
We had a wonderful month of Christmas festivities with visits with both grandparents. I'm sure it will be a little while before both girls will be back to their normal routine - but it was a lot of fun! More posts to come soon.
