This one is for Nannette....

One of the many things DG has missed about living in DC was his weekend bike rides along the Potomac and Mall. Well today that changed. Today we woke up to a beautiful, early spring day and we said: "Those darn birds will be pecking at the side of our house any minute - lets go for a bike ride!" (The birds are a story for another day...)

Up until recently, we had not been able to enjoy the bike riding sites of Georgia because I didn't have a bike. But last fall, Nannette loaned us her bike if we promised to give it a good home. Over winter we got it tuned up, new breaks, new tires... and it looked great! For Christmas, we gave each other all the bike riding gear we thought we might need for spring - reflector sashes (not shown below), cute biking gloves, etc. And today, we made our final purchases: the bike rack for the Civic and two pairs of very necessary "diaper bikers" (a.k.a - biker pants with padding on the bum).

And so we were off. We've been scoping out what we felt would be an acceptable bike path, the Alpharetta Big Creek Greenway, which we lovingly call the ABCG. We've been walking on it for a few miles here and there, but had never been on the whole path. Each time we go though we have seen deer - so it isn't the Mall at our nation's capital, but for metro Atlanta, it ain't bad.

We spent 2 hours riding this lovely trail today and are now thoroughly bushed. And we owe this wonderful afternoon to Nannette for lending us her Schwin Crossfit! So this one's for you Nannette, check it out:

I learned something new about you all!

My FAVORITE outdoor activity is biking, so next time you all are around in the warmer weather months we need to take a bike trip.

I even have a little cart to attach Peter (and the second baby) to the back :)

So let me get this straight. To get a hero t-shirt, you don't actually have to donate an entire unit of blood???

I think it was my consolation prize. When you're there for 4 hours trying to recover, they start feeling bad for you.
