I've just planted our tomatoes and herbs for the year, and then happened upon an article about window farming. Apparently people in NYC are using this method to grow everything from strawberries to green beans hydroponically.
I probably won't be trying this out for the summer, but next winter I might have to try it... can you imagine getting home grown fresh tomatoes and basil year round??? That would be my idea of heaven.
