Happy Birthday Steve & Peter!

This past weekend we went to DC to visit Don's family. It was an action packed weekend. We connected with all kinds of family & friends and celebrated two birthdays!

We started out the trip by meeting baby Kate Bardill on our first night in DC (also her second night at home). What a cutie. We forgot the camera so we'll have to wait for Jacqui to send us her picture. It was such a treat to see her and we look forward to lots of beach vacations in the future with this little one! We also got a visit with the Gasque's. All of them are looking well and we really enjoyed catching up with Amelia, who is growing so fast! She's such a sweetie and Don and I laughed at how different she played than our nephews. She was putting on her purse and rocking her baby to sleep etc. - a very different experience from the trucks, mowers, and dinosaurs that our nephews enjoy.

We really enjoyed catching up with Peter and Aaron too. Peter quickly warmed up to his Uncle Don, and asked "where is my buddy?" any time Don left the room. I think he decided they were buddies when he realized they had matching boo-boo's on their knees. (Softball injury for Don). We brought a couple of books with us for them and they were a hit - I got a good video of Don reading to him, which I'll post below. Aaron is a sweetie too, so much quieter than Peter but I'm sure that will change in time. He has the sweetest smiles.

We also had the unexpected treat of catching up with Don's cousin Kim who was also in town for the festivities. We had a ton of fun hanging out and getting to know her better. Hopefully we'll see more of her in the future.

We kicked off the birthday celebrations with a wonderful dinner in Bethesda with Steve and Florence. We had mussles, salad, soup, fish, and two excellent desserts. It was good to catch up and we had a really nice evening. The next day, we all headed to the park for Peter's party. This was one of the best birthday parties I've been to in a while, even if Peter didn't quite realize it was for him. The kids played yard games, cruised the playground, and enjoyed a private concert from a local kids singer. It was really fun and I know everyone had a good time. Great job on the planning Jill!

Thanks so much to Brett and Jill for letting us come and stay with them this weekend! We had the best time and can't wait to do it again soon!
